Weekly Devotional

Ezekiel 3:20-21

Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered. But his blood I will require at your hand. Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning. And you have delivered your soul. [Modern English Version (MEV)]

To be a prophet, a preacher, a teacher, or other similar type of position, carries with it certain responsibilities. Young people are particularly prone to view these positions as rather grand and glorious, their ideas formed mostly of the more charismatic leaders they’ve seen. They rarely see the flip-side of these positions, the great responsibilities to speak the truth, whether it’s pleasing or not. People need to be warned that entering into ministry is not all goodness and light.
